Duplex Chipboard
All materials are sourced for durability, print quality, and sustainability.
Duplex Chipboard is a dense, rigid paperboard made by layering recycled fibers, typically presenting a smooth, lighter-colored printable surface on the front and a grey or natural-toned back. Known for its thickness and stiffness, it provides the structural backbone for premium rigid boxes and other packaging that needs to feel solid and substantial in the hand.
The main strength of Duplex Chipboard is rigidity at a reasonable cost. Because it is built from recycled fibers, it offers excellent stiffness and durability while remaining affordable and eco-conscious. This makes it the standard core material for setup or rigid boxes, where the chipboard is wrapped with decorative printed paper to create a luxurious, gift-quality finish that holds its shape and protects the contents.
From a capability standpoint, Duplex Chipboard can be printed directly for simpler applications, but it is most often used as the rigid base beneath a wrap of SBS, kraft, metallic, or specialty paper. It can be cut, scored, and assembled into a wide range of box styles, including lidded boxes, drawer boxes, magnetic-closure boxes, and trays. It also serves as backing boards, dividers, and protective inserts in many packaging formats.
Common uses include luxury rigid gift boxes, electronics and tech packaging, cosmetic and jewelry boxes, premium apparel packaging, book covers, and product inserts. It is the go-to choice whenever a sturdy, premium structure is required at a controlled cost. By delivering strong rigidity, versatile construction, and recyclability, Duplex Chipboard remains an essential material in the premium and rigid packaging industry.
